Hundreds assisted by Mandela Day donations

Hundreds of people were assisted by the kind and generous donations received by Othandweni in this year’s Mandela Day initiative, which was greatly supported by the staff and clients of Kloppers Inc.

Each year, Kloppers Inc, in participation with Focus Magazine, puts together a massive event in celebration for Mandela Day in which we collect clothes, non-perishable foods, toys and other donations, as well as prepare fresh meals for the children of Mzingazi.

Each year we are blown away with the level of support we receive, and this year was no different. As a result of the donations we received, we were able to fill six bakkie-loads as well as pack two cars to the brim with boxes and boxes of love. Not only that, we received the most incredible support in the form of vehicles and man-power to deliver our boxes of love to the community.

This year, a massive thank you goes to Talisman Hire Richards Bay for their enthusiastic and passionate assistance, even to the point of making sure we had power enough to provide coffee to all our volunteers. Their willingness to participate was contagious, and it was an absolute pleasure to work with them.

Also thank you to the many estate agents and clients who stopped past to help, as well as the members of the general public who gave so generously of their time to this cause. Your constant and consistent support is greatly appreciated and we hope you never tire.

In addition, we are taking the challenge to make every day a Mandela Day to heart and will be arranging collections every month for the next year. We have placed Othandweni Care Boxes at the offices of participating Estate Agents and Kloppers Inc offices in Richards Bay and Empangeni, and we encourage all member of the community to spring-clean your homes for clothes, toys and non-perishable foods and to drop them into your nearest Care Box. Kloppers Inc and Focus Magazine commit to collect your donations regularly and make sure that they will reach the members of the communities we support. Every little bit goes a long way!
